Iberdrola has successfully placed the first foundation for the Baltic Eagle offshore wind farm into the seabed. Following the impressive installation of the offshore substation platform (OSS) in February 2023, the company is now entering the core stage of the Baltic Eagle construction phase.

Baltic Eagle´s offshore substation topside (OSS) has been successfully installed. The operation was executed by Heerema Marine Contractors using the Thialf installation vessel. The jacket foundation had been placed on site in October 2022.

The Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency (BSH) grants approval for the Baltic Eagle offshore wind farm
Upon completion, Baltic Eagle will have an installed capacity of 476 MW and will supply over 50% of private households in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania with sustainable energy.

Iberdrola remains committed to the deployment of renewables in international markets. Its third offshore wind project in the Baltic Sea, Windanker, will have 300 MW installed capacity and €800 million total investment.

Iberdrola and van Oord, a company specializing in dredging, sign a contract for the transport and installation of fifty foundations for the Baltic Eagle offshore wind farm, as well as for the supply, transport and installation of the cabling inside the park.

The last central orders for the manufacture and delivery of components for the Baltic Eagle wind farm were awarded to the Rostock-based company EEW SPC and the Spanish company Windar. EEW SPC will supply monopiles for the turbine foundations, Windar the associated number of connectors.

Iberdrola signs a contract with wind turbine manufacturer Vestas for turbine supply and maintenance. The installation of the 50 particularly efficient offshore wind turbines of the type V174-9.5 megawatts (MW) will enable a sustainable reduction in the cost of electricity from offshore wind energy.

The transmission system operator 50Hertz and Iberdrola will operate a joint transformer platform at the Baltic Eagle offshore wind farm. The electricity generated by the wind turbines will be converted there and fed into the onshore power grid via submarine cable.
